The 1926-D is rare in all grades, particularly in gem and above, though not as rare as the 1920-D, 1925-D, and 1927-D. Luster is the satiny/semi-frosty type. The present example displays strong striking characteristics, particularly on the bison’s horn and tail, where many examples of this issue show weakness. The surfaces display a vibrant coppery hue enhanced by subtle rose and pale blue highlights. Finding a better example would be difficult as PCGS has graded only three finer.
